When Heather & Matt first contacted Delta Renovations it was to bid on the tear-down of their existing home to build their dream house in the neighborhood that they had been a part of for some time.  Due to the high cost and failing housing market, that plan was quickly stopped and left them at a dead end.  The current home needed many updates and they didn’t want to move.  “We were stuck with no idea what to do next and Mark came in and helped us move forward.  He took the time to listen to what we needed and helped us see the possibilities with our existing home,” says Heather.

They learned about controlling costs, scope creep, and keeping things in perspective.  As the project got underway Delta was in constant communication with Heather & Matt.  “Throughout the entire process Mark always kept us informed, sometimes daily, with emails about the status of the project.  The project manager and builders at Delta, as well as the subcontractors, were always kind and polite whenever we came home to check how things were progressing. In fact, our neighbor even commented that all of the guys were professional and always cleaned up anything that landed on their property.”  They had originally planned on designing, and then purchasing, the kitchen cabinets on their own, but after meeting Delta’s in-house designer, Julie, they realized there was a little more to it than that.  “When Julie and I met I knew immediately that she understood what we were looking to achieve in the kitchen.  From that discussion she drew up a kitchen design that was exactly what we wanted; with a few other suggestions for taking it up a notch,” Heather recounts.  Because of Delta’s relationships they were also able to get custom Amish-made cabinets at a price comparable to lesser quality cabinets they had looked at on their own.

At the start of the project Delta gave a timeline of 5-6 months for completion and while their friends and family told them to add a month or two, within 5 ½ months their family was moved back in to the new home.  “Mark was spot on with his estimates, finished the project in the time he said he would, and within budget – the allowances were also more than fair,” Heather says.  “Most importantly he treats each project as if it were his own; he is personally invested in making owners’ dreams become a reality.”

When asked what makes Delta stand out from the competition they said it was, “staying within the budget and keeping the project on schedule, design services, continued professionalism from the team, providing guidance to prevent scope creep, and Communication, Communication, Communication!”  While Matt & Heather vowed during the course of the project that this would be the last construction they would undertake, they’re currently in the planning stages of Phase II, for which they said they would, “only use Delta Renovations.”

Gerry and Jennifer Wondrasek loved their neighborhood, loved their home, but the family had outgrown the floor plan.  They were having a difficult time finding a plan that fit their needs when they spoke to neighbors Phil & Marney Naughten, who raved about the space planning Julie, from Delta Renovations, had done for their kitchen and bathrooms.  Julie listened, suggested the rear of the home be extended about 6’ to gain the flow between the kitchen and family room. The first floor laundry became the mudroom (command center) and the laundry found a new home on the second floor.  The bedrooms were reconfigured and another bathroom added.  The plan fit their needs, the price fit their budget and Delta was retained.  The Barrington area knows Delta’s reputation as fine craftsmen and builders. Julie’s design created sophisticated interior accents with timeless custom cabinetry to make the Wondrasek's interior something truly exceptional and distinctive.  Something truly their own.

Exceeding expectations is something we at Delta strive for.  We combine the art of listening with 25 years of experience, design capabilities and a commitment to craftsmanship. It all adds up to a winning combination of quality, integrity and the desire to make possibilities a reality.

"The art of listening, that is pure Julie.  No ego, just a bundle of talent and the burning desire for us to be happy.  Call Julie, it's worth the phone call."  -Jen & Gerry

One of the highest compliments we receive is being invited back into someone’s home for additional work.  At the very least, it means the previous project was a success and we hit our goal of a satisfied customer.

I met Pam almost 20 years ago when she and her husband purchased a virtually untouched four square home in Arlington Heights.  Working with local architect Robert Flubacker, we remodeled the entire home and added additional spaces for the kitchen, master bedroom and family room.  The emphasis was on maintaining and enhancing the period architecture, especially the interior, and this was achieved to a spectacular effect.  The home became a transformed turn of the century masterpiece; Pam’s decorating skill completing her vision.

Next came the attic remodeling project, turning those high ceilings into the boy’s rooms complete with a bathroom and additional storage areas.

Project #3 was a garage extension encompassing a remodeled laundry room, exercise room (used to full effect by the boys - football players at St. Viator) and a second floor outdoor deck overlooking Dean’s masterful landscaping which is truly a hidden gem.

And at last, the finale.  Boys and girls have grown, the kitchen of some 18 years needed updating.  Pam had the idea to create a very special space, to revise the kitchen layout adding an incredible, magnificent, glass conservatory connecting the kitchen and family room, showcasing that wonderful rear yard thereby giving it the full attention it deserves.

The plan was brilliant and it made full sense.  The kitchen, with its many fine and well thought out details is a true illustration of design and function, but for me this special relationship is the ultimate reward.  The trust, the confidence to allow us to do what we do so well is what I strive for.  To see that in the faces of the people that worked with us on these projects brings home why I have stayed in business all these years.  - Mark Zurek
